Please join CAMFT’s new Executive Director, Nabil El-Ghoroury, PhD and the Board of Directors for a luncheon to raise funds for CAMFT’s PAC.  The luncheon is for CAMFT members only and you must pre-register in advance.

Our guest speaker, Jessica Jackson Sloan, co-founded the #Cut50 initiative with CNN political commentator Van Jones. She serves as national director of this bipartisan effort to end mass incarceration. California has the largest prison system in the country, yet continues to treat adolescents as adults in its judiciary system. #Cut50 advocates for consideration of the developmental differences between adolescents and adults in the judicial system. Join us at this special luncheon to learn how MFTs can play a vital role in promoting strong bonds that help incarcerated youth & adults, families, and the communities we serve.

New this year! CAMFT will be hosting a silent auction featuring artwork by fellow psychotherapists.  The artwork will be open for viewing and bidding in the Exhibit Hall. Final viewing will occur at the PAC Luncheon and will offer attendees the exclusive opportunity to place a last-minute bid to win that special piece of art before the auction closes at 2:00 p.m.!

Drum Circle

5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Ossie Mair, LMFTS10 EVENING ACTIVITY-“OM Rhythm Circle: Drum Circle Therapy”
2 CE Hours
Level of Learning: Introductory
Presented by Ossie Mair, LMFT

Drum CircleOM Rhythm Therapy (OMRT) is a therapeutic modality that promotes emotional health and well-being using drums and small percussion instruments to spontaneously create rhythms. Group drumming builds community through rhythm.  Join us on a rhythmical journey that will empower, rejuvenate, reduce stress, and make you smile. The facilitated drum circle will be an, "in the moment" experience, created by all who participate.  Using drums and other handheld percussion instruments, we will join together to celebrate our community with music. We will learn universal rhythms and create some of our own.  We will experience cooperation and collaboration, therapeutic healing, and pure joy.  When we drum and play together, and share our spirit in the form of rhythm, we will give ourselves a rhythmical massage and induce emotional release.  Each person’s experience in the circle will be unique, as we play and create music together. Witness how the use of rhythm can help with anger management, bullying, depression, socialization skills, or drug & alcohol abuse.

Drama Therapy

5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Douglas Green, MA, LMFTS11 - EVENING ACTIVITY - “Creative Action Therapy”
3 CE Hours
Level of Learning: Introductory
Presented by Douglas Green, MA, LMFT

Drama TherapyWhile many confuse the term Drama Therapy with Psychodrama, it is actually an umbrella term for any therapy utilizing creativity and action for therapeutic purposes. While some clients do just fine with traditional talk therapies, engaging their creative minds, and including their bodies in the work in some way, (even as small as writing) can often effect different, greater, and more lasting change.

This workshop will serve as an introduction to assorted creative active interventions. It will be highly experiential, with attendees doing and creating throughout. It should also be the most fun workshop you attend at this conference!
