CAMFT's Website Privacy Policy
The California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists
("CAMFT") has created this Privacy Policy to demonstrate our
firm commitment to privacy, so that you, the user, will be aware of the
uses made of information that may be generated as a result of you using
our website.
Information Generated when you visit the CAMFT
Website
Depending upon your use of the CAMFT website, certain types of personal
and nonpersonal information may be collected. For example, you may give
us your name, license number, or email address when you complete an
application, respond to a questionnaire or submit an email to CAMFT. Any
personal information that you provide to us will be used by CAMFT to
fulfill the stated objective for which the information was requested or
collected (e.g. if information is provided as a result of you emailing
us, we will use the information provided, such as email address, to
respond to you). In addition, such information may be used to update
your member record in our database.
Other information that may be generated and collected when you use the
CAMFT website may be nonpersonal in nature. For example, we may collect
the date and time you access the CAMFT website or the Internet address
of the website from which you linked directly to the CAMFT website. We
use this information to measure the number of visitors to the different
sections of the website and to help make the CAMFT website more useful
to visitors.
Cookies
A cookie is a data file that is created and stored on your
computer's hard drive when you visit a website. The typical purposes
of a cookie is to make your use of the website easier and more
convenient and to assist the website in tracking your use of the site.
For example, a cookie may save the registration information, passwords,
purchases or preferences that you create when using a website so you
don't have to reenter this information. Cookies may also tell the
website which areas of the site are popular and which aren't. Cookie
technology is used by most major websites and is considered an industry
standard for the Internet.
Our website uses cookie technology to verify user information. Also,
most Internet browsers are initially set to accept cookies. If you
prefer, you may set your browser so that it refuses cookies or alerts
you when cookies are being created on your hard drive. You should be
aware though that by not accepting cookies, you may impair your ability
to use certain shopping or password protected areas of websites.
"CounselingCalifornia.com" and "Members
Only"
CAMFT is a private trade association consisting of mental health
professionals. As one of the many benefits of membership, we make
available on our www.counselingcalifornia.com
website a searchable database of therapists. CounselingCalifornia.com is
intended to be used by members of the public to locate and contact
mental health professionals in their area by such characteristics as
name, area of practice or location.
In addition, www.camft.org also
contains a "members only" section for which a login and
password are required. The members only section contains additional
information, such as forms and previously published articles intended to
assist CAMFT members in their practice.
If you are a member of CAMFT and would like to be removed from www.CounselingCalifornia.com,
please follow the instructions on the CounselingCalifornia.com website
or call CAMFT at (858) 292-2638.
"Contact Us"
Like most sites on the Internet, our website contains a feature that
allows you to contact us with your comments or questions. To use this
feature, there is an icon at the top of each page on our website which
you can click onto. When you click this icon, a list of contact options
will appear, including the option to email CAMFT at InfoCenter@camft.org.
CAMFT Educational Opportunities and other Products
The CAMFT website contains several forms and applications that allow
you to order products, register for workshops, etc. In order to process
and complete your orders, you may be asked to provide certain
information, such as your name, address, state and zip code. We may also
need to ask you for your credit card number and expiration date.
The information collected through the registration forms is used to
process your order and may also be used to keep track of the amount and
types of purchases being made through the CAMFT website. CAMFT may also
use your email address or mailing address to send you information
regarding updates to the products you purchased or new products, which
may be of interest to you. Some of the electronic courses made available
through links on the CAMFT website may take you to another website where
you may purchase products, or register for workshops, and if so, you
agree to be taken to and bound by the terms of that website's
privacy policy.
With respect to your credit card information, this information is sent
encrypted to a secure server. The information is then used to complete
your purchase order.
Links to Other Sites
In some areas of our website, we have included links to other Internet
sites which we feel add to or improve the quality of our website. While
we hope you find these links helpful, we cannot assume responsibility
for the privacy practices or the content of any linked site. Therefore,
we encourage you to investigate and determine the privacy policy and
practices of any linked site prior to providing information to the
linked site.
Surveys
CAMFT may from time to time create and use surveys on our Website. Most
surveys are simple "click box" surveys where you click a box
on the screen to indicate your response. However, we may from time to
time ask you for your name, email address or demographic information. If
a survey does ask you this information, we will use the information
solely to complete the survey, compile statistics and update CAMFT
member records.
Listservs, Message Boards, etc.
CAMFT may provide forums, listservs, message boards, and/or news groups
on our website. These features will be helpful to the users of our
website. However, CAMFT will not monitor them regularly nor will CAMFT
be responsible for what is said on or done as a result of them. Please
remember that any information you disclose on these types of features
will be accessible to the public and you should exercise caution prior
to disclosing any personal information on these features. Each listserv
or other informational forum will have its own terms of use, which you
must read and agree to prior to its use.
A listserv is a program that sends emails to the addresses on the
listserv's list. CAMFT listservs may only be available if you
affirmatively sign up to participate. If you decide you do not want to
participate in a particular listserv, the first email you receive from
the listserv should provide you instructions on how to opt out of the
service.
Disclosures Required by Law
We may disclose information provided by you if we are legally required
to do so, such as by court order or subpoena.

CAMFT has implemented reasonable security measures to protect against
