Self Study in Law and Ethics

GLBT and Other Diversity Issues

This course meets the qualifications for continuing education credit in Law and Ethics for LMFTs and LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Continuing Education - Two hours of self-study in law and ethics.

Dear Member:

If you want to challenge yourself and broaden your views of both law and ethics and diversity, we encourage and invite your participation in this self-assessment test. Dialogue and increased attention to the subject of diversity, in its various aspects, is important for the profession, for individual practitioners, and for the public. We are therefore hoping for the broadest participation possible. This test will hopefully be a catalyst for more dialogue concerning the subject, as will the CAMFT Annual Conference in late April, which has the subject of diversity as an underlying theme (Facing, Embracing, and Honoring Ourselves and Our Communities).

Some of the questions and answers in this test may evoke differing opinions, and perhaps some controversy. As usual, the questions and answers have been written by Richard Leslie and will reflect his legal opinions (or arguments) on a variety of issues. The answers in some cases are longer than in the typical test, because some of the questions present challenging or new issues – perhaps never before considered by many. We trust that many of you will find this test to be both challenging and rewarding. Be sure to carefully read the questions and reflect upon your answers – much of this test may cover previously unexplored or under-explored subject matter.

This continuing education self-assessment test, like the prior tests, is sponsored by CAMFT in partnership with Richard S. Leslie, J.D., who created the test and made it available to CAMFT.

THERE IS NO PASSING OR FAILING SCORE.

Further, if you enjoy this manner of supplementing your understanding of legal and ethical issues, you may acquire more than six hours in this important aspect of practice.
