Becoming a volunteer is the best way to connect with fellow CAMFT
members, develop your leadership skills, and become an integral part of
the CAMFT community--all while making a difference in CAMFT. No matter
what your talent, interest, or availability, there's an opportunity
that is right for you!
Participate on CAMFT’s Board of
Directors
Are you interested in offering your leadership services to CAMFT?
Membership on the CAMFT Board of Directors is exciting, challenging and
demanding. It provides opportunities for deep community with your
professional colleagues as you move along the mainstream and front line
of our profession in California. If you are willing to embark on such a
significant personal and professional journey, logon to
CAMFT's website in early June for a Board Application Packet.
Participate on a
Committee
If you are interested in serving on a Committee, please send a cover
letter indicating the committee in which you are interested along with
your resume to CAMFT at 7901 Raytheon Road, San Diego, CA 92111.
Committee appointments are made by the President of the Board of
Directors. Click here for a list of the
Committees.
Write an Article for The Therapist
Magazine
Articles for the Prelicensee’s Corner, Supervisor’s Corner,
and the Professional Exchange can be submitted for consideration
throughout the year. Please contact CAMFT for details! Accepted articles
will be available to members on the CAMFT website and may be considered
for possible print.
Become a CAMFT Media
Representative
Do you have experience working with the media? Have you been
interviewed on television, radio or for a newspaper or magazine? Then
you may be a good fit for CAMFT’s statewide media relations
program. As part of this program, CAMFT’s public relations agency
coordinates interviews for media representatives about newsworthy mental
health topics. Representatives also have the opportunity to write
responses to parenting magazine “Ask the Expert” questions.
Media representatives should fit the following criteria:
-
Live and/or work in the Bay Area, Sacramento, San Diego, Los Angeles
or Orange County.
-
Have experience with and enjoy working with the media.
-
Have flexibility to accommodate short media interviews into their
weekday schedules, as needed.
If you are interested in being a media representative, please e-mail
past media clips and/or a description of your media experience to eschuster@camft.org.
Become a Member of a Chapter and
Volunteer Locally
Are you interested in volunteering in your local area? CAMFT has
29 chapters throughout California with lots of volunteer
opportunities! These volunteer opportunities range from short-term
to serving on a committee or board of directors. Click here to find information
about a local chapter. Volunteering at the local level is a great
way to network and get to know therapists and other professionals in
your area.
More Ways to Connect—CAMFT’s

great place to network with your peers? The CAMFT
Community is the place to be! The CAMFT Community provides a rich
social networking opportunity and a more personalized, relevant
experience for members. The CAMFT Community is a secure, member's
only, private networking tool that allows members to connect and
communicate with each other in new, more efficient, more personalized
and user-friendly ways. To login, go to http://community.camft.org
(make sure you bookmark the page for future reference). A step-by-step
guide is posted in the library, under Community Documents, as is an
activity guide to help you familiarize yourself with the CAMFT
Community. Your username and password to the CAMFT Community is the same
as your username and password for the Members Only section of the CAMFT
website. To request a username and password send an e-mail to infocenter@camft.org.
If you have questions, please send an email to community@camft.org.
-
CAMFT’s Facebook Page and
CAMFT’s LinkedIn Group: CAMFT has a
“group” on LinkedIn as well as a “page” on
Facebook. The purpose of creating such is for professional growth,
advancement, and collaboration. LinkedIn and Facebook are free, online
networks. Since these networking sites are not private, go to LinkedIn
and/or Facebook to see if these social networking opportunities are
right for you. Note: Although LinkedIn and Facebook can be great
resources for social networking, we discourage members from forming
internet relationships with their clients, based on the doctrine of dual
relationships.
