As MFTs, we see people in our offices every day who are struggling with symptoms of trauma and emotional distress. Over the last few years, as many of our patients seek solace or escape from their pain, depression, and anxiety, we have seen a sharp increase in cases involving substance abuse and addictive behaviors.

In our practices and on the news, we are hearing how addictions are destroying people’s lives. Food addiction is contributing to an epidemic of obesity and lifestyle-related illnesses. We treat patients with maladaptive behaviors, such as addiction to gambling, pornography, and the internet, causing pain and distress in families across our state.

CAMFT’s 2018 Annual Conference will pay special attention to the underpinnings of addiction, its relationship to depression, anxiety, emotional distress, and trauma to offer relevant continuing education and resources to support your practice. The Annual Conference and Continuing Education Planning Committee is pleased to announce a call for workshop proposals for our 54th Annual Conference on April 26-29, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency Orange County.
