Dear Members,
CAMFT just returned from our annual DC trip where we advocated for increased mental health care access and made the case for the inclusion of MFTs as Medicare providers.
CAMFT recognized Representative John Katko as CAMFT Legislator of the Year. He is the Republican lead author of our House bill, HB 945, which would include LMFTs as reimbursed Medicare providers. He is very passionate about mental health. Katko currently serves as the Republican co-chair of the Mental Health Caucus and is also co-chair of the Suicide Prevention Task Force of that caucus. We thank Representative Katko for his ongoing support!
With the assistance of Representative Mike Thompson of Santa Rosa, our Democratic House lead author, CAMFT met with a dozen key California representatives. The meeting provided an opportunity to speak with constituents about the importance of increased access to mental health services.
CAMFT will continue to advocate for inclusion in Medicare. Click here to send a letter to your representative to encourage them to co-sponsor this bill. When our bill gains momentum, CAMFT will send an email blast encouraging all members to contact their legislators to push the bill forward.
