CAMFT Staff participated in 8 meetings with California Coalition for Mental
Health, Irregulars, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation,
Department of Health Care Services’ Medi-Cal Managed Care Advisory Group,
and Consortiums in San Diego, Central Coast, Orange County, and Los Angeles.
It is critical for CAMFT to have a place at the table with other mental health
professionals and regulatory bodies. These meetings will always be a high priority.
CAMFT Legal Staff responded to 2047 calls from members with questions on legal,
ethical and licensure issues. Access to this expert, legal guidance is one
of the most beneficial and popular member benefits.
CAMFT Staff met with 1 legislative office, Donna Campbell, Governor Brown’s
Deputy Legislative Secretary, and submitted advocacy letters to:
CAMFT consistently interacts with key legislators to reinforce how proposed
legislation, regulation, or other actions may be beneficial or harmful to LMFTs
and MFT Interns and Trainees. Advocacy is a cornerstone of CAMFT’s commitment
to members.
CAMFT Staff, Board and lobbyists attended 6 receptions for US Representatives
Kevin McCarthy, Devin Nunes, and Eric Swalwell, Assembly Members Travis Allen
and David Chiu, and “Dining for Dems” with Assemblyman Marc Levine,
State Senator Mike McGuire, US Representative Jared Huffman, and State Controller
Betty Yee. The goal of the CAMFT PAC is to ensure that Marriage and Family
Therapist-friendly candidates and incumbents from both political parties get
elected to the California legislature. We support candidates who have demonstrated
an understanding and willingness to fight for the issues most important to
Marriage and Family Therapists. Click

CAMFT Staff were present at the following 2 professional exhibits
to promote CAMFT membership, CounselingCalifornia.com, and CAMFT’s Continuing Education
Provider Approval Program: Early Childhood Mental Health Conference and VA
Military Mental Health Summit. CAMFT promotes its member services and benefits
to other mental health practitioners as an additional professional resource.
CAMFT Staff made a presentation at 1 school: Chicago School of Professional
Psychology, LA Campus. Presentations to schools are an effective way to
engage the next generation of CAMFT members.
CAMFT Staff made Law and Ethics presentations at 1 agency and 2 chapters: Family Counseling Services, Inc., Santa Barbara Chapter, and San Diego Chapter.
The law and ethics seminar is a valuable training tool that gets consistently
positive response from MFTs and other participants.
CAMFT Board members participated in 2 chapter meetings, Redwood Empire and
San Francisco. Chapter meetings are a prime opportunity for CAMFT leadership
to hear directly from members and exchange ideas for serving members. Click

The CAMFT Public Outreach, Certified Supervisors Program, Crisis Response
Education & Resource, Insurance and Healthcare Reform, Political Action,
CE Provider Approval, and Executive Committees met. If you are

The CAMFT Board of Directors met on September 19-20, 2015, in Santa
Clara. The Board hosted a reception for the Santa Clara Valley Chapter board members.
The Board will meet again on December 5-6, 2015 in Long Beach, CA. For
