Congratulations to the 2019 Outstanding Chapter Leader Award recipients! These leaders, who were selected for recognition by their chapter Boards, are giving back to their chapters and their local communities in amazing ways. CAMFT thanks you for the work you do in support of the colleagues in your local community, your chapter, and CAMFT.
Ilse puts together an outstanding training program for our IE-CAMFT members. She works hard to make sure that the trainings we provide as a chapter are varied, relevant, well-researched, and meet the needs of our IE-CAMFT community. Despite all of her hard work, the impact of her efforts sometimes flies under the radar for the simple reason that she is so consistent and reliable. She is nothing if not dependable, and IE-CAMFT would not be the organization it is without her and all of her hard work.
If I were to have to give one word to describe Talal Alsaleem, it would be facilitator. There are so many more words though that also describe him such as kind, thoughtful, mediator, caring, passionate, polite, humorous, professional, fun, organized, punctual and leader are just a few.
As the President for the San Fernando Valley Chapter in 2018, Nazila Amighi, has contributed a great deal and she has raised the bar for leadership and contribution in the process.
“Adam is a major contributor to the Main CAMFT chapter. His “can-do" attitude and “roll- up- your- sleeves" work ethic have made it possible for the chapter to make great strides in providing quality services to our members.” [Pat Saunders, Past President]
The Ventura County Chapter – CAMFT is proud and pleased to elect Denise Dalgarn, MS, LMFT, as our Outstanding Chapter Leader of the Year. As the Chapter’s President, Denise brings over 9 years of experience in various Board positions, including serving as President for three years.
Estelle Fisher has been a Board member of LACAMFT since 2014, first serving in
the capacity of Board Secretary but finding her true calling and passion in the role
of Sponsorship Chair. As Sponsorship Chair, Estelle has championed and sustained
the effort to bring critically needed funding to our chapter, but of far greater
importance, she exemplifies the kind of values-based leadership that is
fundamental to making LACAMFT the extraordinary chapter that it is.
Susan Janss has been a dedicated and conscientious Treasurer of the San Gabriel Valley Chapter
of CAMFT for the last 3 years. Her willingness to learn and grow in the position has enhanced
the chapter’s tracking and managing our finances. With openness and willingness to ask deeper
questions, Susan thoughtfully and analytically modeled stewardship and responsibility. She
worked to develop relationships with consultants and vendors, creating ease in everyday business. As Susan has completed her term on the Board and we are so grateful for her and wish her well in her future endeavors!
It is rare that you meet someone as naturally suited to leadership as Jenn Kennedy, our Santa Barbara-CAMFT president. Although Jenn has been an incredible asset to our board in her five-year tenure with us, it is the contribution in her role as president that is most noteworthy.
Santa Clarita Valley is a newly formed Chapter. We are here because Mrs. Miller had the dream in her heart to bring a Chapter of CAMFT to our community. Prior to its inception, MFT’s and
affiliated professionals would have to travel to the San Fernando Valley to participate in Chapter activities. Miller not only organized Santa Clarita Valley CAMFT, she worked hard to encourage members to put together and volunteer for a Board. She increased membership, and established the chapter as a CEU provider. In addition to doing much of the work in bringing the chapter to life, she set up the website, initiated dues and developed the social media page. Miller has been dedicated to the Chapter and to its members. In handing over the presidency, she had files, both hard copies as well as on a flash drive for the next President to step in with ease.
Vanessa has been a blooming leader from the moment she moved to the Central Valley. Vanessa first attended our group for pre-licensed members and was eager to join the chapter and learn about the workings of the Board. Even before Vanessa was licensed, Vanessa expressed interest in serving as President to our Chapter because she wanted to bring energy, diversity, and professionalism to our Board. Vanessa was patient in learning the ins and outs of the board leadership, by first joining the marketing committee and helping at one-time events. She then ran for and served as a pre-licensed member at large on the board, where she fulfilled expectations of duties and took on additional tasks when other board members were stagnant or resigned before their term was up; all while being a mother of 3 and serving in a management position at her work. Vanessa recently obtained licensure (a qualification of being president), stepped up excitedly to run and now serve as our 2019 President! It’s been a joy to watch her grow so quickly as an outstanding leader.
Courtney has been an asset to the SD-CAMFT board since 2016. She is calm, professional, and diligent. She is incredibly knowledgeable regarding financial management and planning. She is responsible, organized, and future-thinking. Before 2016, we were operating with paper records and she took the time to organize and upgraded us to electronic files. She supports needed discussions regarding fair and transparent use of funds. She has gone out of her way to support our Pre-licensed Chair and all of our events. She is always reliable, supportive, and knows what to do. With members, she makes sure we have fun social activities that create networking opportunities. We have become more aware and mindful as a board as a result of her guidance when it comes to relationships, budgeting, and financing our goals. Thank you Courtney!!
Debbie Solseng has been the secretary for Orange County CAMFT for the last 10 years. She has been amazingly consistent in her dedication to her responsibilities as secretary. She is concise and timely in recording the minutes and getting them out to the Board. Her ten years doing this role has made it appear that it is with ease that she accomplishes this task. READ MORE
