Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Coverage Survey for  SB 855 Regulations

On April 1, 2024, state regulations implementing SB 855 took effect. Health plans must now cover medically necessary treatment of mental health and substance use disorders (MH/SUD). These regulations also add associates and trainees to the list of eligible health care providers of these services. CAMFT has become aware that some health plans are not allowing associates and/or trainees to provide and bill for MH/SUD services, even under supervision of a licensed provider.
