BBS UPDATES FOR SUPERVISORS AND SUPERVISEES!

Supervisor Self-Assessment Report

Effective January 1, 2022, new BBS regulations require all licensees supervising pre-licensees gaining hours of experience toward licensure to complete and submit a one-time Supervisor Self-Assessment Report to the BBS.  Supervisors  who had begun supervising previous to January 1, 2022 were given a deadline of January 1, 2023, to submit the report. New supervisors are required to submit the report within 60 days of beginning supervision. The Supervisor Self-Assessment Report form is available on the BBS’s website.

Substitute Supervisor
The BBS allows for a supervisee to obtain supervision temporarily from a substitute supervisor. There are certain qualifications and requirements for the substitute supervisor depending on length of supervision. Review CAMFT’s chart.

Videoconferencing Supervision (AB1758)

As a reminder, the Videoconferencing Supervision bill (AB 1758), has been signed into law and was effective as of August 29, 2022.

The bill allows for face-to-face direct supervisor contact between a supervisor and a supervisee in all settings to be either in-person contact, contact via two-way, real-time videoconferencing. Additionally, the law requires within 60 days of the commencement of supervision, the supervisor must conduct a meeting with their supervisee to assess the appropriateness of allowing the supervisee to receive supervision via two-way, real-time videoconferencing.
