CAMFT Employment Opportunities

CAMFT is currently hiring for two full-time positions, Education and Events Manager and Marketing Sales Assistant and two part-time Educational Outreach Liaison positions; see below for full job descriptions.

BASIC FUNCTION: Independently plan and manage all operational aspects of live and online educational programs including: venue selection, registration, vendor/speaker negotiation and contracts, supplies, printed materials, on-site logistics, exhibitions, staffing, travel, and housing.



  • Create, plan, and project manage online education program to meet revenue goals
  • Manage continuing education provider status with professional licensing groups
  • Identify educational topics or speakers for future events with high ROI Plan
  • Work with staff to implement marketing programs to drive education sales
  • Analyze data analytics to identify high/low performing online products and make recommendations to increase sale opportunities


  • Create, plan, and project manage live programs to meet revenue goals
  • Independently research, evaluate, and select venues appropriate for meeting/event
  • Define and manage budgetary goals for the education and event programs
  • Create RFP, review proposals, negotiate and contract vendors/speakers, track
  • Develop event production and content timelines; communicate these clearly with staff
  • Order and manage event supplies (giveaways/awards, food and beverage orders, entertainment, décor, and audio/visual needs)
  • Coordinate room layout and set-up, equipment requirements, agendas, handouts, materials and other supplies with presenters.
  • Manage the development of event communications, agenda, promotional materials, online registration, on-site guides, signage, webpage
  • Manage event logistics (shipping, labor, food and beverage, ordering of show services, staffing, room blocks, securing booth space, and packing)
  • Manage on-site staff at educational events
  • Prepare assessment reports and satisfaction surveys
  • Staff Annual Conference Committee
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • 3-5 years of experience event planning and management
  • Robust attention to the details without losing sight of the big picture
  • Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written
  • Experience securing speakers for educational events
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • The ability to work independently and with minimum direction


  • College degree or equivalent working experience
  • Advanced knowledge of event planning for large organizations
  • Able to analyze, review, and negotiate contracts
  • Strong project management experience required
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and work independently with little supervision
  • Intermediate to advance proficiency in Microsoft office
  • Travel to events and meetings (may be up to 35%). Expected to work some weekends
  • May be requested to work overtime and weekends if deemed necessary
  • Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds; and stand, walk, sit for long periods of time

BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for assisting with the development and execution of strategic marketing plans. This position plays an integral role revenue generation programs by executing marketing program for new members, securing sponsorships and partnerships, and advertising sales.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the execution of strategic marketing & sales direction for membership recruitment
  • Coordinate research, reporting, and analysis to guide future market planning
  • Manage campaign calendars, analyses and other reporting tools that will provide meaningful insight and measurable results on campaigns
  • Identify and secure sales for exhibitor, sponsorship, and advertising revenue
  • Provide excellent sales services support for exhibitors, sponsors, and advertisers
  • Staff educational and exhibiting events
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • MFTs are encouraged to apply
  • Association background is an asset
  • Strong marketing and sales experience required
  • College degree preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints and within established deadlines, with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word), comfort working with a database (training in the specifics provided), and proficiency navigating and performing searches on the Internet.
  • May be requested to travel, work overtime and weekends if deemed necessary

INTERNAL RELATIONSHIP: Report to the Managing Director of Marketing and Communications. Frequent contact with Education and Events Manager.

EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIP: Communicate with prospective advertisers, exhibitors, and sponsors.

CAMFT is currently hiring for two part-time Educational Outreach Liaisons to interface with universities, colleges, and clinics to support and recruit pre-licensed CAMFT members. Ideally these positions will be remote and based in either the Los Angeles or San Francisco Bay areas. Position Title:
Educational Outreach Liaison

Compensation and Hours:
Remote Position, 20 - 30 hours per week
Compensation Range: $28 - $33.50 per hour
                                     Full Benefits plus 401K provided at 25 hours per week

Basic Function:
This part-time, remote position establishes and maintains fruitful relationships with universities and colleges with MFT programs, as well as clinics and community institutions who employ pre-licensees, in order to support and recruit pre-licensed CAMFT members. Responsible for marketing and maintaining public perception of CAMFT as a mental health thought-leader and provider of invaluable services to both pre-licensee and clinical members. Also responsible for supporting the Clinical Communications team by assisting with the production of The Therapist magazine, electronic communications, social media communications, web-based communications and continuing education offerings and events.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Work with Managing Director of Clinical Affairs to develop educational outreach programs
  • Promote membership recruitment and retention by converting prospects to new memberships
  • Work with Executive Director, Managing Director of Clinical Affairs, and other staff to develop quantifiable targets for member recruitment
  • Nurture new and existing relationships with Universities, Faculty, Training Agencies, and other mental health partners and stakeholders
  • Schedule and implement regular outreach presentations and events
  • Assist in the organization of special events, including conferences and training events
  • Speak effectively before groups of students, pre-licensees, consortium members, and clinicians
  • Work with team to develop additional projects when Universities are not in session, including
    • Writing newsletter articles, magazine articles and other communications
    • Assist with social media and Facebook page content
  • Stay up-to-date on CAMFT events and social developments relevant to CAMFT members
  • Be responsive to home office in San Diego through both teleconference and occasional in-person meetings
  • Meet defined performance goals/li>
  • Regular and punctual attendance required to meet essential function of job responsibilities
  • Perform other activities as assigned

Qualifications & Technical Skills:

  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) strongly preferred
  • Master’s degree required
  • Experience in written / oral communications, public relations or related fields
  • Extensive experience speaking / presenting in both intimate settings and to large groups
  • One-year experience working in the area of community development, preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including writing skills
  • Comfortable working on-the-road, 2 to 3 days per week
  • Detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Able to work independently and yet communicate and collaborate with colleagues at the home office
  • Knowledge of social media and other outreach platforms
  • 2 to 3 days of travel per week; 25% of travel will be overnight
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, proof of insurance required
