Board Highlights December 2020

The following notes highlight discussion and action from the December 5-6, 2020 CAMFT Board of Directors meeting, held virtually.

Discussion on 2019-2024 Strategic Priorities

The Board received an update on the Chapter goal and held a discussion to prioritize work for the goal. The Board identified chapter membership, engagement, and leadership pipeline as priorities for the Chapter goal. Staff will now work to update deliverables for this Board priority by the next Board meeting.

The Board was updated on the progress that CAMFT’s government relations team has made regarding the current Scope of Practice goal.

The Executive Director also reported on progress with the current Social Policy goal.  The first statement is currently in progress and is anticipated to be given to the Board Social Policy Task Force by late January 2021.

Financial Report

The Board reviewed CAMFT’s finances for this term. CAMFT’s financial position is strong at this time, with total revenue at $4,770,698 and total expenses at $4,150,798, with a resulting surplus of $619,900 (14.9% surplus). Non-operational revenue (gains from CAMFT’s reserves) totaled $240,591, for a net excess of $860,491.

The Board approved the proposed 2021 budget, allowing for a smooth operational transition into next year. This budget includes five new positions and allocations to fund CAMFT’s strategic priorities.

Executive Director Review

The Board completed its annual review of the Executive Director. The Executive Director provided a report compiling CAMFT’s progress and accomplishments from September 2019 – September 2020. Board members completed an evaluation tool examining the Executive Director’s performance in key areas. The Board then reviewed the survey results and discussed the review in closed session.

The Board thanked the Executive Director for excellent performance in managing the impact of COVID-19 on CAMFT (including a swift pivot to remote work) as well maintaining staff morale during the work from home period.

Virtual Experience

Board members congratulated CAMFT’s Virtual Experience team for a successful conference, and expressed gratitude to CAMFT staff for their hard work and effort during this challenging year. Kudos to staff members Eileen Schuster, Marlene Blas, Michelle Perucci, Eric Velasco, and many other CAMFT staff who worked hard to make this event a success.

Next Meeting

The next Board meeting will be held virtually on March 6-7, 2021.
