Presentation Description:

Knowing which expenses to deduct from your private or group practice can meaningfully reduce your tax bill, but many therapists leave money on the table simply by not knowing what qualifies.

n this session on June 11, Heard's tax professionals will cover the fundamentals with step-by-step guidance, so you can start saving right away.

We'll walk through the deductions most relevant to California marriage and family therapists, including business meals, professional travel, and the home office deduction. We will also cover commonly overlooked deductions that can add up to significant savings.

Andrew Riesen
Co-founder, CEO

Andrew Riesen is a mission-driven entrepreneur, financial accountant, and CEO of Heard, the financial back-office for therapists in private practice. Prior to Heard, Andrew worked at PWC, where he worked as a financial accountant, helped build an internal software incubator, and co-founded an affordable sales tax solution for small to medium-sized businesses. When not supporting mental health professionals in private practice, Andrew can be found exploring the nooks and crannies of the Pacific Northwest trail-running, cycling, or snowboarding, or at home with his nose in a book or journal.

Senior Director of Sales & Partnerships

Forrest is a former CPA and graduated from Gonzaga University with an accounting and finance degree with Cum Laude honors. He started his career at PWC where he worked in public accounting. He joined Heard in June 2021 as the second employee due to his strong passion for mental health. While at Heard, he has consulted with thousands of therapists & wellness providers and helped build out Heard's teams and processes for tax, accounting/bookkeeping operations, customer support, customer success, onboarding, and sales. Outside of work, Forrest enjoys traveling internationally, skiing, backpacking, and watching Gonzaga basketball!
