Board Highlights December 2021   

The following notes highlight discussion and action from the December 4-5, 2021 CAMFT Board of Directors meeting, held in Santa Barbara, CA.

Chapter to Chapter Reception:

The CAMFT Board invited Board members of the Santa Barbara Chapter to an informal reception. (These “Board-to-Board” gatherings are intended to allow for interaction between state and local leaders when the CAMFT Board is meeting in a chapter’s area.)

Financial Report:

The Board reviewed the proposed 2022 budget with Finance Committee recommendations.  Included in the budget proposal was funding for growth opportunities in the marketing and branding of CAMFT and Marriage and Family Therapists in California. The Board approved the 2022 budget as presented.

Strategic Priorities Update:

The Board was updated on CAMFT’s progress on current strategic priorities, and celebrated the passing of the new MFT Scope of Practice legislation. Due to the passing of the Scope of Practice bill, a new Strategic Priority was identified.

Additional Discussion:

The Board continued discussion from last meeting regarding the formation of three new committees: a Governance Committee; a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee; and an External Affairs Committee.

The Bylaws Committee was directed to develop a proposal including timeline and action steps to potentially extend full voting rights to CAMFT pre-licensed members.

The Board appointed a transition team to proceed with the search process for a new Executive Director. Cathy Atkins accepted the Acting Executive Director role.   

The next Board meeting will be held on March 5-6, 2022, location TBA.
