JULY 2021 E-NEWSLETTER

The summer months can often feel like a slow-down, but with our work lives and personal lives opening up more and more with COVID restrictions loosening, this July feels invigorated. At CAMFT, we have a lot going on this summer to support our members at this dynamic time in history.

CAMFT has put together a powerful series of four CE-worthy Lunch and Learn events that will take place in late July and August.  The event series, titled Growing Forward:  Navigating Post-Pandemic Work and Life, includes these important topics:

  • Social Anxiety and Entering the World by Ellen Kinoy, LMFT and Ana Mejia, LMFT (1 CE)
  • Back to the Couch: Legal and Ethical Tools for Building Your Back to Business Plan by Bradley J. Muldrow, Esq. and Kristin W. Roscoe, Esq. (1.5 CEs)
  • Lessons Learned from Engaging Children and Teens through Telehealth During COVID-19 and Moving Forward by Dr. Mary Karapetian (2 CEs)
  • Coronavirus Bereavement: A Grief Like No Other by Brad Leary, LCSW, CT (1.5 CEs)

We hope you can join us for this very special Lunch and Learn series.  Click here to register.

Also this July, CAMFT is pleased to publish the first three of our social policy statements, which were prioritized by the Board of Directors to raise understanding and awareness about the impact of social and systemic issues on mental health and well-being:

I am pleased to share with members the first statements approved by the Board at the June 2020 Board meeting:

These statements highlight important issues and position CAMFT as a thought leader in the public discourse around mental health and wellness, which will allow CAMFT to develop responses to public events in a timely manner. CAMFT is developing statements on immigration, drug decriminalization, gender equality and other topics, and we plan to provide educational workshops on all of our social policy topics in future.

I encourage each of you to read these social policy statements and join us for our Lunch and Learn series. These transitions in this ever-changing world can be difficult, but CAMFT is here to help us Grow Forward together.

Wishing you all well,
Nabil El-Ghoroury, Ph.D., Executive Director
