Candidate for Chief Financial Officer

Danah WilliamsI am honored to accept the nomination to serve as CAMFT’s CFO, and I want to express my sincere gratitude to CAMFT’s Nominating Committee for their confidence and support. I care deeply about the strength of our association, the wellbeing of our profession, and the sense of belonging and support each member feels within CAMFT.

My professional life is rooted in both clinical service and organizational leadership. As a LMFT and President/CEO of California Mental Health & Family Therapy Group, I work daily at the intersection of financial responsibility, ethical decision-making, and human-centered care. These values guide my approach to CAMFT governance: thoughtful stewardship, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to members.

As CFO, my focus has been to ensure the responsible management of CAMFT’s resources while aligning our financial decisions with our strategic priorities. I believe members deserve clarity about how resources are used, confidence that financial decisions are grounded in data, principle and best practices, and assurance that processes are equitable and consistent. Upholding accountable systems is central to the trust our members place in us, and I remain committed to strengthening these pillars.

Looking ahead, I am optimistic about CAMFT’s future. We are in a moment of tremendous possibility—where the needs of our communities, the growth of our workforce, and the increasing recognition of mental health as essential all converge to create new opportunities for our profession. To meet this moment well, we need strong governance, well-prepared leaders, and a Board that reflects excellence, integrity, and strategic clarity.

One of my ongoing priorities is to help cultivate CAMFT’s leadership pipeline—supporting the development of future Board members and volunteers who are equipped, empowered, and prepared to advocate on behalf of our profession. Alongside this work, I aim to contribute meaningful institutional memory that strengthens continuity, supports consistent governance practices, and helps orient and uplift incoming leaders as they step into service.

If elected, I will continue to:

  • Safeguard CAMFT’s financial stability
  • Advocate for transparency and procedural fairness in decision-making
  • Steward member resources with care and accountability
  • Support strategic initiatives that increase CAMFT’s value to members
  • Strengthen governance systems and leadership development
  • Collaborate with members, staff, and Board colleagues with respect, humility, and compassion

Above all, my commitment is to serve you—the members—with steadiness, openness, and deep regard for the trust you place in this association. Your voices, your needs, and your experiences shape the direction of our work, and I will continue to listen closely and lead with the same integrity and fairness I value in our profession.

CAMFT is strongest when we move forward together—with clarity, courage, and a shared vision for what our field can become. I believe deeply in the potential of this moment and the collective strength of our membership. It would be an honor to continue serving as your CFO and to help steward a future for CAMFT that is vibrant, inclusive, and worthy of the extraordinary professionals who make up our community.

With gratitude,

Danah Williams, LMFT
