Dr. Amanda Nugent Divine serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Kings View, a behavioral health and information technology company operating across 36 of California's 58 counties. Dr. Nugent Divine holds a Bachelor’s in Sociology, a Master’s in Clinical Psychology, a Master’s in Media Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Psychology with a specialization in Media and Technology. She is an LMFT in California and served for over five years as a Subject Matter Expert for the CA BBS. In addition to her executive leadership, Dr. Nugent Divine is an active board member of CBHA and the Acoustic Neuroma Association. She brings extensive experience as a Clinical Director in mental health and substance use disorder treatment settings and has contributed as adjunct faculty in the field of Psychology. She is also the writer/creator of the "Mental Health Minute with Amanda Nugent Divine," where she shares insights to promote mental health awareness.

Supporting Women Through Perimenopause: Approaches and Interventions for Psychotherapists

Description:

In this live, 90-minute interactive training we cover Perimenopause/Menopause and how this phase of life impacts a woman's mental health and overall wellness. This training provides an overview of the psychological, emotional and physical impacts of perimenopause and menopause on women's mental health. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the life stage transitions across perimenopause, menopause and post menopause and how these changes intersect with mood, anxiety, sleep and overall functioning. Participants will have the opportunity to explore appropriate screening questions, interventions, referral strategies and resource connections for clients.     

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the differences between each stage: perimenopause, menopause and post menopause. 
  • Identify common physical, emotional and psychological symptoms associated with perimenopause/menopause.  
  • Determine how the transition into perimenopause and menopause can impact women’s mental health and mood. 
  • Explain how the clinician can promote client self advocacy and make appropriate referrals.
  • Identify 1-2 considerations when working with cisgender versus transgender clients during the peri/menopause stage.
  • Utilize appropriate screening tools, interventions and identify appropriate referrals to address anxiety, mood and sleep disturbance symptoms.
