Dr. Michael Dow, PsyD

Dr. Mike Dow’s passion for healing began when his 10-year-old brother suffered a massive stroke due to a rare brain disease—a defining moment that led him to dedicate his life to helping others rediscover lost hope. Today, Mike is in private practice in Los Angeles. He divides his time providing traditional psychotherapy and in-home, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, working as a dyad with his M.D. colleague. Mike is the cofounder of the Non-Ordinary Therapy Company, where he trains their staff therapists in integrative, trauma-informed, and relational models of care.

Dr. Mike is a New York Times bestselling author and has written eight books: Diet RehabThe Brain Fog Fix, Healing the Broken Brain, Heal Your Drained Brain, Chicken Soup for the Soul’s Think, Act and Be Happy, Your Subconscious Brain Can Change Your Life, The Sugar Brain Fix and The Ketamine Breakthrough. His books have been translated into many languages in Europe, Asia and South America, and he has traveled the world to offer workshops based on his books.

He attended USC on academic scholarship and graduated as a Presidential Scholar. He earned his M.S. in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Northridge where he graduated with honors. Mike then went on to earn a Psy.D. in Psychology and a Ph.D. in Clinical Sexology. He completed advanced training in clinical hypnosis with the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, neurofeedback through the BCIA-accredited Stens Academy, Imago couples therapy with Dr. Harville Hendrix, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy at UCLA . His passion for trauma-informed treatment is informed by his training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Attachment-Focused EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy with Dr. Phil Wolson at the Ketamine Training Center.

Trauma-Informed Psychotherapies as Mind–Body Medicine

Friday | May 1, 2026
11:30 am - 1:00 pm
(1.5 CEs)

Description:

Trauma-Informed Psychotherapies as Mind–Body Medicine explores the next frontier of trauma treatment—one that recognizes suffering not only as a psychological experience, but as a full-body imprint. Dr. Mike Dow highlights how MFTs are uniquely positioned to deliver cutting-edge modalities such as EMDR, IFS, Brainspotting, clinical hypnosis, and somatic therapies that represent the most advanced work in our field. These state-of-the-art approaches don’t merely manage symptoms—they catalyze desensitization, reprocessing, and deep integration at the root cause, harnessing neuroplasticity to disrupt maladaptive neural circuits and restore physiological regulation. Attendees will learn how these psychotherapies are reshaping the clinical landscape, offering more durable outcomes and transforming the way we understand trauma recovery. This is the future of psychotherapy: precise, embodied, neuroscience-informed care that truly heals.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to: :

  • List three modalities of trauma-informed psychotherapy
  • Analyze an outcome of trauma recovery
  • Explain how neuroscience-informed care heals trauma
