FEBRUARY 2022 E-NEWSLETTER

Dear Members:

CAMFT is encouraging all members of CAMFT to become involved in your professional organization and your profession in 2022! Involvement not only keeps you abreast of current issues and opportunities, but also allows you to help chart the future of CAMFT, your profession, and mental health therapy in California and nationally.

CAMFT Board Elections
It is election time at CAMFT, as ballots for the 2022-2023 Board of Directors elections are being sent, both electronically and by mail, at the end of the week. Every time you vote for your CAMFT Board of Directors, you are determining the direction and future of CAMFT.  Every new Board member has an impact on the next decision-making body that determines what the priorities of CAMFT will be moving forward.

The Board of Directors set the strategic priorities, such as clarifying the MFT Scope of Practice, gaining Medicare reimbursement for MFTs, advocating on social policies and bolstering support for CAMFT Chapters. The Board is elected by you, CAMFT members. As CAMFT members, you have the power to determine CAMFT’s future, but you must cast your vote.

CAMFT Committees
In addition to voting, consider becoming directly involved with the Board of Directors or signing up to serve on one of CAMFT’s Committees. Serving on a CAMFT Committee is a great opportunity to be involved on the ground level, get to know CAMFT staff, and make an impact while being mindful of the time commitment you have available. The call for Committee members will be sent to the membership in the next few weeks, so keep a look out!

Chapter Leadership Conference
Speaking of leadership, I want to end with a note of deep appreciation for CAMFT’s Chapter Leaders, who participated in an amazing Chapter Leadership Conference last weekend.  It was inspiring to see so many of our Chapter Leaders working together and supporting each other to make CAMFT Chapters, and CAMFT as a whole, as strong as we can be.  If you are not already a member of your local Chapter, I encourage you to learn more about how the Chapter can benefit you and your profession.

Wishing you all well,
