MENTAL HEALTH ORGANIZATIONS TO MEET WITH CMS ON NSA

The American of Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association will meet with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to address concerns in the letter that CAMFT and other national mental health associations wrote to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services earlier this year regarding the Interim Final Rules under the No Surprises Act. While CAMFT along with these associations share the administration’s goal to facilitate transparency in health care costs, we are concerned about the disproportionate impact the Rules have on mental health providers and the potential negative impact the Rules will have on access to mental and behavioral health care in communities that have lacked access to these services. CMS recently published FAQs to offer more clarification, however there are still areas for which we would like greater clarification. CAMFT will keep members apprised of the outcome of the meeting and any further updates.
