OCTOBER 2021 E-NEWSLETTER

Autumn always offers us an opportunity to recognize and reflect on transitions in our lives. At CAMFT, we are on the brink of an important transition regarding the updating of our legal Scope of Practice definition. Our MFT Scope of Practice legislation has been passed by both houses in California’s legislature, and we are awaiting news any day now that the Governor has signed the legislation into law. The new Scope of Practice language pays tribute to the modern MFT by more accurately describing the wide breadth of work experiences, work settings, and expertise of MFTs today. We will keep you posted regarding the signing of this new legislation that impacts MFTs across the state!

We are still looking for CAMFT members like you to run for the CAMFT Board of Directors for 2022–2023! I invite you to read the President’s Message in this month’s The Therapist magazine, written by CAMFT President Danah Williams, LMFT, about the important impacts that moving into leadership can have on both you and your profession. For more information on running for Board leadership and how to apply, click here.

Wishing you all well,
Nabil El-Ghoroury, Ph.D., Executive Director

GO ABOVE AND BEYOND! CAMFT's CERTIFIED SUPERVISOR PROGRAM

The CAMFT Certified Supervisor Program (CSP) goes above and beyond the BBS Requirements for Supervision. The skills needed to be an effective supervisor are different from the skills needed to be an effective clinician. The CAMFT Certified Supervisor Program provides the training you need to be fully prepared to guide clinicians-in-training. As a CAMFT Certified Supervisor, you have the opportunity to be recognized by potential supervisees and employers for your advanced training, and as a CAMFT member, you receive a discount when completing the program!
