2027 - 2028 BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTIONS

Dear Member: 

Thank you for your interest in running for a position on the CAMFT Board of Directors. We appreciate your willingness to volunteer your leadership services to CAMFT.    

ABOUT THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS 

Governing Board 

The CAMFT Board is a “governing” board. A governing board helps create the vision, mission, values, and policies for the organization and ensures that the principles and finances are properly respected. The Board, itself does not actively run programs and services.

OPEN POSITIONS FOR THE 2027-2028 CAMFT BOARD OF DIRECTORS 
Term of office begins June 1, 2027 for the following positions: 

ELIGIBILITY 

Per the CAMFT Bylaws, Article III, Section 3.02,

  • CAMFT Clinical members are eligible for election if they have been a voting member of CAMFT for at least two consecutive years immediately prior to taking office;
  • CAMFT Pre-Licensed members are eligible for election if they have been a Pre-Licensed Member for at least six consecutive months upon taking office.
  • No Director shall serve more than eight consecutive years; after serving eight consecutive years, a member may be eligible to serve after sitting out one two-year term.
  • No member shall serve as Director-at-Large for more than four consecutive years, except that a person who has served four years as a Director-at-Large may be eligible for an officer position (i.e., President, President-Elect, Secretary, CFO)
  • Pre-Licensed members are only eligible for the Pre-Licensed Director-at-Large position.

BOARD MEMBER TIME COMMITMENT 

As a Board member, you will be expected to attend the following: 

  • Quarterly Meetings (Board meetings begin Saturday morning and end on Sunday afternoon. Board members arrive on the Friday evening prior to participate in “Meet & Greet" receptions with local Chapter leaders.)   
  • June 4 - 6, 2027

  • 2028 Chapter Leadership Conference 
  • 2028 Annual Conference — Location TBD - Spring 2028
  • Board Orientation — Location TBD - Spring  2028
  • Board Retreat — Location TBD

Additional time commitments include: 

  • Attendance at Chapter meetings, as needed
  • Attendance at special Board meetings, as needed
  • Interacting with the local offices of state and federal legislators to educate the legislators and staff about the work of LMFTs and CAMFT 
  • 2027 Annual Conference (Incoming Board members are eligible to receive complimentary registration but are responsible for all other associated expenses, as term of office does not begin until June 1, 2027.) 

Board members are reimbursed for attendance at events per the CAMFT Board and Committee Reimbursement Policy. 

BOARD MEMBER CONSENT FORMS 
Each Board member is expected to adhere to and sign the following: 

*Attestation form to be completed after viewing the Anti-Harassment and DEI Training videos (links will be provided).
*These forms may be periodically updated.

Applicants are encouraged to submit applications early.  For any technical assistance, please contact Sho Thoulouis at sthoulouis@camft.org before the deadline. The application deadline cannot be extended under any circumstances. 

 Interview 

The Nominations Committee shall hold two (2) face-to-face meetings to interview candidates:

Northern California
November 6, 2026

Interviews will be conducted in person; however, accommodations can be made upon request for an interview to be conducted virtually via zoom under special circumstances or for specific needs. Accessibility accommodations, or other areas may be provided relating to mobility, hearing, vision, or other needs. We ask that requests for reasonable accommodations be made as early as possible, as onsite resources may be limited. The slate of candidates will be selected following completion of these interviews.
