I hope everyone is enjoying the summer and taking a little time for rest and self-care, especially since August is National Wellness Month. Some of our Chapters are taking a hiatus, whereas others are ramping up their programs for the coming year. I am happy to share a a few exciting things happening at CAMFT, that is relevant to our Chapter leaders and Chapter members.

  • CAMFT is exploring different ways of offering presentations to Chapters. We prepared a 1-minute survey to assist us in planning for 2025
  • The deadline to respond is Aug 16.

Tip: 1099 vs Employee: How can I be sure to classify a worker correctly as either staff member, or independent contractor?

  • The California Supreme Court adopted the so-called ABC test for state wage-order claims in Dynamex Operations West v. Superior Court. Under the new analysis, all three of the following factors MUST BE MET for a worker to be properly classified as an independent contractor:

Reminder: Sign up for the Revenue-share program

  • All you need to do is to promote the CAMFT L&E webinars 4 times each and send us a member roster monthly. That’s it!
  • For each Chapter member that signs up with CAMFT, you will receive 60% of the registration fee
  • Consider signing up your chapter for the remaining 3 webinars - it is not too late
  • A quick 5-minute phone call will answer all your questions and get you set up

Membership and Marketing

Reminder: Why must Chapter members be a CAMFT member first?

  • There is an agreement between CAMFT and the Chapters:
    • “CHAPTERS shall abide by and promote the purposes and objectives of CAMFT as set forth in the most current version of CAMFT’s Bylaws. CHAPTERS shall also adopt and abide by its own bylaws, which shall not conflict with CAMFT’s Bylaws. Clinical, Pre-Licensed, and Affiliate CAMFT members in good standing, as defined by the CAMFT Bylaws, shall be eligible for membership in CHAPTERS. “
  • The membership requirement is also listed in each Chapter’s Bylaws (governing documents)
  • Voting members have the right to make decisions for Chapters, therefore , it is imperative that Chapter members are CAMFT members in good standing, so that the decisions they make on the Chapter level, align with CAMFT’s mission, vision, and activities.

Quarterly: Add/Drop Membership Reports

  • The reports were emailed to chapters on May 13, 2024
  • If you have not received the reports, or need to be added to the recipient list, please contact mchampion@camft.org
  • The information contained in the reports is CONFIDENTIAL, but chapters have permission to use the information in their membership recruitment and retention efforts
  • To verify whether your chapter member is a member of CAMFT, log in to www.camft.org / My Dashboard. On the left navigation bar, scroll all the way down to “Membership Directory”
