CAMFT's New Year Membership Update: Strategic Plan & Medicare

At the end of 2022, CAMFT celebrated the momentous passage and Presidential signing of the Mental Health Access Improvement Act, which includes MFTs as Medicare providers! CAMFT advocated for this important legislation for over two decades. We want to thank the thousands of CAMFT members who served as grassroots advocates, as well as the many Boards of Directors, staff members, coalition members and congresspeople who worked hard to ensure the passage of this significant legislation.

This legislation officially goes into effect on January 1, 2024. Now, CAMFT shifts our focus to working with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to ensure that the implementation of the law in 2024 is both practical and beneficial for all. We anticipate numerous regulatory meetings on this topic that will transpire over the course of many months. We look forward to providing updates as we learn more.

On January 12th, CAMFT Executive Director Joy Alafia held a webinar for all CAMFT members outlining our 2023-2024 strategic plan and discussing next steps for this new Medicare legislation. Click here to view the recorded webinar..

CAMFT will keep this webpage updated with news and ongoing efforts regarding this momentous legislation. Check back here regularly, and be sure to follow CAMFT news through our monthly ENewsletters and social media accounts
