Board Highlights March 2023

The following notes highlight discussion and action from the March 4-5, 2023 CAMFT Board of Directors meeting, held in Sacramento, California.

Board to Board Reception
The CAMFT Board invited members of the Sacramento Valley Chapter to an informal reception. Local CAMFT members were also invited to the reception for a meet and greet and to learn about volunteer leadership opportunities. (These “Board-to-Board” gatherings are intended to allow for interaction between state and local leaders when the CAMFT Board is meeting in a chapter’s area.)

Department Updates
The Board received updates from all departments including: the Bylaws Committee’s work to begin a full assessment of CAMFT’s governing document; review of the upcoming  Annual Conference in Santa Clara, California; and, CAMFT’s legislative agenda including sponsored legislation.

Financial Review
The Board reviewed the financials through December 2022. CAMFT presented the 2022 audit which resulted in a clean report by the auditor. The Board also reviewed the 990 tax return presented for the 2022 year. The Board discussed the need to keep CAMFT competitive in the modern workplace, including salary assessment and remote work options.

Strategic Priorities Update
The Board received an update from Alafia on CAMFT’s priorities including advocacy, marketing and branding, technology, and DEI. Included in the discussion was Medicare implementation; as well as an assessment of the landscape of license portability,the national exam and CAMFT’s place in the discussion.

The next Board meeting will be held June 10-11th in San Luis Obispo, California.
