Update On The Health Care Worker Minimum Wage Bill

Last year, Governor Newsom signed SB 525 which will increase the minimum wage incrementally to $25 an hour for specified health care workers. Set to take effect June 1, 2024, Californians are waiting for more information on the law's implementation from the Administration. Amidst a significant budget deficit, the Administration has yet to announce any proposed changes or implementation clarifications to the health care worker minimum wage law. We will keep you apprised of any developments as we get closer to the May budget unveiling. If you have questions about how this law may impact you or your business, seek legal consultation with an employment/labor law attorney.
