CAMFT AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS ADVOCATE FOR RESEARCH ON RACIAL DISPARITIES IN TESTING

In August 2022, a report published by the Association of Social Work Boards, demonstrated racial inequities in the clinical exam process for licensure, including exam performance. This disturbing report garnered attention of the various psychotherapy groups leading to the question on whether these results might be found throughout the standardized testing of California providers. CAMFT as well as other advocacy organizations have asked the Board of Behavioral Sciences to begin research into the testing of MFTs and other regulated therapists to determine if this gap in performance exists as a systemic issue that needs to be addressed.
