The following notes highlight discussion and action from the CAMFT Board of Directors meeting, September 19-20, 2026, in Lake Tahoe, CA.
Chapter to Chapter Reception:
The CAMFT Board invited local chapter leadership and members from Sacramento Valley and Sierra Foothills chapters to an informal reception. The reception was well attended. These gatherings allow greater interaction from members at the local level with the CAMFT Board.
Financial Report:
The Board reviewed CAMFT’s financial statements through July 2026, including balances, revenue and expense variations, and investments. Strong year-to-date results were noted. The financial report was approved.
Membership Dues:
The Board approved the continuance of a 3% annual member dues increase for Clinical and Affiliate membership tiers and the implementation of a 3% annual membership dues increase for Pre-licensed membership.
Strategic Plan Update:
The Board discussed avenues for professional success of members, technological integration, and advocacy.
Updates were provided on the insurance reimbursement research project, 2026 legislation including SB 903, and financial support through education, as well as AMFTRB, license portability and loans.
The Board approved title changes: Executive Director to Chief Executive Officer, and the Chief Financial Officer to Treasurer.
Policy Review and Updates:
The Board reviewed the Policies Task Force edits and recommendations on the CAMFT policies.
Policies Taskforce:
The Board elected to sunset the Board Experienced Policies Task Force and the Member Policy Task Force.
Executive Director Update:
The Board was updated on improved financial controls, Annual Conference registrations and revenue; staff growth; utilization of AI; general attendance at CAMFT events; and areas of improvement to messaging, branding and trademarks; chapter membership; membership benchmarks (40,000); PAC funding; advocacy efforts including AMFTRB, Medicare, and Dept of VA.
The next Board meeting will be held December 5-6 in Palm Desert, CA.
