Chapter Leader E-Newsletter, April 2026

Dear Chapter Leaders,

April 2026 National Volunteer Month

April is National Volunteer Month, and we’re celebrating YOU! Thank you for your time, passion, and willingness to step in and make a difference. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and we are so lucky to have such a dedicated group of volunteers supporting our mission.

A special thank you also for providing the Annual Reports each year. The information provided is very valuable in planning support for Chapters and will be shared with all of you and the State Board throughout the year. Incentive winners: The first Chapter to submit all the reports was the Sacramento Valley Chapter. The three $100 voucher winners are Long Beach-South Bay, Redding Regional, and Ventura County Chapters. Congratulations!

Here are a few ideas on how to reach out to and thank your volunteers during National Volunteer Week, APRIL 19-25, 2026: Playbook/Section VI (g)

Tip: Why high-talent teams still underperform

  • The difference between teams that succeed and those that struggle rarely comes down to talent. Rather, it is tied to how that talent interacts, aligns and connects within their team and the wider organization.
  • The operational impact of work-style differences
  • Processes that enable performance
  • Enabling connection within teams and across functions
  • Read more in the Playbook/Section IV (b) Articles

Technology/Website/Social Media

Tip: How to Protect Yourself against Phishing and Vishing - Courtesy of KnowBe4

  • Phishing
The majority of all recent cyberattacks occur through social engineering tactics such as phishing emails. Cybercriminals can send phishing emails to everyone in your Chapter, to a specific Board member within your Chapter, or to you specifically. These cybercriminals can also use social media platforms such as Meta or LinkedIn to gather your personal information and send you a convincing, personalized phishing email.
  • Vishing
Voice phishing, or “vishing,” is a type of phishing that occurs when someone calls you and pretends to be someone they are not. Cybercriminals may pretend to be someone you know, such as a Chapter member or Board member, or someone from an IT department. During a vishing attack, cybercriminals will often ask for sensitive information such as your passwords, social security number, or bank account information. With the latest technology, cybercriminals can also change their caller ID to show any phone number they want. Using this tactic, cybercriminals can build credibility and gain your trust.
