LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

2021 California Legislature Update

The 2021-2022 legislative session was originally scheduled to begin on January 4, 2021; however, the start date has been delayed until January 11 due to the spike in COVID-19 cases. It is anticipated that the beginning of the session could be further postponed until later in January.

As always, CAMFT staff will monitor the legislative session and evaluate the impact of legislation on CAMFT concerns. All CAMFT members are encouraged to visit CAMFT’s Legislative Action Page to learn about the bills CAMFT follows and access in-depth descriptions, legislative analyses, and up-to-date status reports. You can also subscribe here to CAMFT’s Action E-Lerts to receive CAMFT emails on key pieces of legislation.

Board of Behavioral Sciences Update

The Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) has a full calendar of meetings scheduled for 2021. Due to COVID-19, these meetings are currently scheduled to be held online.  All CAMFT members are encouraged to participate and engage with the critical issues being discussed during BBS Board and Committee meetings. The link to BBS meetings is here

CAMFT will be attending the first BBS Telehealth Committee meeting currently scheduled for January 22, 2021. Once the agenda is finalized and published, it will be available under the “Meetings” tab on the BBS website.
