OCTOBER 2020 E-NEWSLETTER

Dear Members,

Happy October everyone! For this month’s message, I want to highlight two ways you can get involved with CAMFT: applying for the CAMFT Board of Directors and participating in our Go Green campaign.

Apply for CAMFT’s Board of Directors

I want to encourage everyone to consider applying for a position on the Board of Directors. Serving on the CAMFT Board is a great way to get involved and help shape the future of MFT practice in California. While serving on the Board, you’ll have opportunities to discuss policies and regulations that affect LMFTs, shape future priorities for CAMFT and the profession, and participate in important conversations with colleagues from around the state to guide the vision of CAMFT.

There are 6 positions currently open for the term beginning June 1, 2021:

  • President-Elect (three year commitment)
  • Pre-licensed Director (two year commitment)
  • Secretary (two year commitment)
  • Three (3) Clinical Directors-at-Large (two year commitment)

CAMFT is always looking for Board members from diverse backgrounds across the state. Information about the application process is available here.

Help CAMFT to GO GREEN

Cathryn Leff, MA

As we enter voting season, CAMFT is starting its Go Green campaign, spearheaded by CAMFT President Cathryn Leff. The recent Bylaws changes that CAMFT members overwhelmingly approved included two opportunities for CAMFT to run more efficiently—an option for members to receive electronic official membership communications and an option for members to vote electronically. We are launching the Go Green campaign, asking you, our members, to save money, protect resources, and create more organized and efficient operations. (NOTE: The Go Green campaign does Not impact how you receive The Therapist magazine.)

You can make a difference in the Go Green campaign! CAMFT will be sending an email soon titled “GO GREEN with CAMFT.” Please opt-in by selecting “YES” for electronic communications (like the Annual Business Meeting Notice) and “YES” for electronic voting. Saying YES to GOING GREEN means that:

  • We will reduce the amount of paper that CAMFT delivers to your home or office
  • Voting will be easier with an electronic ballot—and research shows more members will vote!
  • We’ll help CAMFT staff and CAMFT members stay safer by not handling so much snail-mail
  • We’ll save and protect both money and trees

Thank you for helping us with the Go Green initiative. And thank you for considering running for the Board of Directors. We need member involvement to keep CAMFT strong.

I hope that everyone has a safe and healthy October!
