ALERT! PHONE SCAM TARGETING THERAPISTS

Large-scale phone scam is still happening across the state!

Therapists and police departments across the state have confirmed with CAMFT that therapists are still receiving scam calls from people pretending to be police officers claiming a warrant is out for their arrest due to failure to appear as an expert witness in a trial. The calls appear to be coming from LAPD, from Fresno PD, or from other local police departments. The scam callers, posing as police officers, explain that the therapist can pay a warrant fee by sending a wire transfer or money order. Several CAMFT members, as well as CPH, have confirmed these reports. If you receive such a call, do not engage further with the caller, and contact your local police department.
