Ruling Grants Pre-Licensed MFT Payment for Services
Click here to view a recent ruling by the California Labor Commissioner that agencies who employ post-degree volunteer interns should be aware of when determining whether post-degree interns should be paid. This ruling does not address agencies who use trainees while they are enrolled in a degree program. As with every legal issue that arises, the specific facts surrounding the case are extremely important. CAMFT recognizes that each agency is unique in its organization, funding, and day-to-day operation. For this reason, we recommend any agency using post-degree volunteer associates (or interns) review their specific situation with an attorney whose focus of expertise is labor and employment issues.
