Candidate Statement

Thank you to the CAMFT Nominating Committee for nominating me to the 2024-2025 slate for Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO role is crucial for overseeing CAMFT’s financial integrity and strategic fiscal management, vital for the association’s advancement and sustainability. I am honored by this trust.

I also extend gratitude to you, the dedicated CAMFT members, and CAMFT’s staff for their steadfast work. Your collective contributions are the lifeblood of this organization.

CAMFT is at a crucial juncture with existing plans over the term of this election cycle to accomplish key initiatives that will dramatically impact CAMFT members. These initiatives deserve leadership with extensive institutional knowledge and experience, they include:

  • Implementing MFT’s recent inclusion in Medicare
  • Advocating for license portability for MFTs
  • Launching a comprehensive marketing campaign to elevate the MFT profession’s public profile
  • Developing a new, compelling member benefit or product
  • Engaging in the Executive Director’s performance review and potential contract renewal
  • Reviewing and proposing revisions to CAMFT’s Bylaws and Policies

With nearly 15 years of leadership service at both state and local levels within CAMFT, including roles as CAMFT President, Director-At-Large, and Chapter President, I have the experience and track record to navigate these initiatives with integrity, transparency, and professionalism.

I am mindful of CAMFT’s history with sensitive initiatives like bylaws changes and am dedicated to a transparent, inclusive leadership approach. My aim is to ensure that all initiatives are addressed thoughtfully, with member engagement and best interest at the forefront. I am supportive of nurturing a culture at CAMFT where every person feels they are a valued and represented member of our community.

In my time off the board, I have remained engaged with CAMFT’s developments, attending board meetings state-wide at my expense, which will foster a seamless transition into board leadership. I actively volunteer on several CAMFT committees, including Legislative Advocacy, Governance, Political Action, External Affairs, and Bylaws.

I am certified in Nonprofit Board Education from BoardSource, a leading authority in nonprofit board excellence. This, coupled with my certification in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) has honed my collaborative approach and objective thinking.

If elected, I will be a trusted voice to represent CAMFT membership, and respectful of the collaborative role between CAMFT's staff and the board. My goal is to oversee the management of our financial resources effectively, maximizing the return on investment for our members and supporting our exciting programs and benefits, while maintaining CAMFT’s healthy fiscal position.
