AB5 UPDATE—THE NEW INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR LAW

CAMFT Continues to Work for MFTs’ Rights to Be Independent Contractors

CAMFT continues to engage with other stakeholders, including LCSWs and LPCCs, to gauge the effects of the passage of AB 5 on independent contractors working in the health care field. Next possible steps include working with other affected professional groups to draft “clean-up” legislation, hold public hearings, and submit ballot measures that would lessen the potential damage done by this legislation. CAMFT will be releasing a general overview of AB 5 and its effect on health care providers, as well as sending members a survey to assess the direct and indirect impacts of this new law.
