CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT-ELECT

Danah Williams, LMFT

Dear Valued CAMFT Member,

I am humbled and honored to be put forth by the Nominating Committee on CAMFT’s 2020-2021 election slate. I appreciate the confidence the Nominating Committee, and my supporters, have shown in my candidacy for the position of President Elect.

Joining the Association on a state and local level were the first actions I took when I began graduate school. I understand the important role CAMFT plays in the vitality of our profession. I have served CAMFT from the inception of my journey into the MFT profession a decade ago. I have over 10 years combined leadership experience serving within CAMFT and CAMFT Chapter, including 3 years on CAMFT’s Board of Directors and 7 years on Santa Barbara CAMFT’s Board of Directors. At the Chapter level I have held positions as Secretary, Pre- Licensed Director, Programs Director, President Elect, President and Past President.

In my years of service, I have earned a reputation for professional and ethical integrity through transparent and unbiased leadership. I have demonstrated the ability to address the concerns of CAMFT, the membership and make decisions based on the greater good of the Association, profession and membership as a whole; without personal agenda.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. I have a strong background in non-profit and corporate leadership; with membership on numerous boards and committees.

I strive for integrity in all things and have a proven track record of accountability. My leadership style is collaborative, transparent and inclusive. I actively increase my cultural competence and social awareness to better serve diverse and marginalized populations. I believe we are stronger when we work together.

CAMFT has established its goals, or “outcomes,” through 2024 via CAMFT’s Strategic Plan to “advance the MFT profession” and “strengthen CAMFT as an organization.” I look forward to using my education, professional background, past board experience, institutional knowledge of CAMFT, and emotional intelligence to help CAMFT achieve these goals. It is my vision that every LMFT and AMFT in California thrive in our vital, healing profession; and that members of CAMFT will represent the highest standards of care in the mental health community. I endeavor to see the LMFT become a household name to help de-stigmatize mental health care and increase access to and utilization of LMFTs for support.

I want to be an active agent of our success. Together, we can continue CAMFT’s excellence and promote the vitality of our profession. I hope you will give me your vote!

Warmly,

Danah Williams, LMFT
