Dear Chapter Leaders,

Welcome to the 2nd edition of our Summer newsletter. This edition is also a quick read since some of our Chapters are taking a hiatus in August. We hope everyone is enjoying the summer and taking a little time for rest and self-care, especially since August is National Wellness Month. Do take a moment to view the “For ALL,” “Chapter Calendar,” and the individual position postings, for a few updates and reminders. The regular edition will resume in September.

CAMFT Organizational Assessment: You are invited to participate

  • CAMFT has hired Dennison & Associates to perform a 360-degree organizational assessment to recommend improvements to operations, programs, services, and technology. 
  • As part of the assessment, they would like to hear from our chapter leaders both in your roles as a volunteer and as a member. 
  • All are welcome to join, and no preparation is needed 
  • Vanessa Dennison, CAE, from Dennison & Associates, will be facilitating and asking questions
  • How to participate?

CAMFT assisting Chapters with Pre-Licensed Recruitment: CAMFT’s Toolkit for Chapter Leaders

  • Chapters have indicated that they need support recruiting students
  • CAMFT is finalizing a toolkit to share with Chapter leaders to assist them with promoting CAMFT/Chapter membership to Pre-Licensees
  • If your Chapter is interested in being part of the initial roll-out, please click here to answer a few short questions by August 22 (if you missed the Aug 22 deadline, no problem. Please complete the survey, so you can be considered for round 2)
  • The toolkit is specifically designed for Chapter leaders visiting their local Universities/Schools and contains the following:
    • A short training video on what to do prior/during/and after these visits
    • A list of Universities to reach out to (if you don’t already have contacts)
    • Contact information for the Deans/Professors (if you don’t already have that information)
    • A script for the email to request a short call/in-person meeting with the Dean/Professor
    • A script for the follow-up email/call to the Dean/Professor
    • A template PowerPoint presentation with CAMFT’s information already included and suggestions of what Chapters could include
    • Swag (to be mailed to the contact person) to hand out at your visit
    • FAQ

  • Chapters from across the state will have an opportunity to host a table at this year’s Fall Symposium in Long Beach on Friday, October 17, 2025

Save the date: The 2026 Chapter Leadership Conference

  • The conference is planned for Fri-Sat, January 30-31, in San Diego
  • Attendance is free to all 2026 Chapter Board members and committee chairs, and the 2025-2026 CAMFT Board and Chapter Advisory Council members

Celebrating Leaders and Chapters: At the Chapter Leadership Conference 2026

  • Chapter Recognition:
    • The change from Chapter awards to Chapter recognition was very well received this year, so we are planning to continue with this format next year
    • Chapter leaders, you have the opportunity to share your successes, struggles, anything really! via answering a few questions, instead of submitting lengthy nomination packets
    • Time commitment is minimal

Fall Symposium: Chapter Table Host Invitations  

  • Your Chapter is invited to host a CHAPTER TABLE at the Symposium
    • Spots are limited, so they will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis

  • In exchange, your Chapter will receive one (1) complimentary registration to the Fall Symposium.

Tip: 1099 vs Employee: How can I be sure to classify a worker correctly as either staff member, or independent contractor?

Quarterly: Add/Drop Membership Reports

  • We provide these reports to Chapters to use in their marketing campaigns
  • The information contained in the reports is CONFIDENTIAL, but chapters have permission to use the information in their membership recruitment and retention efforts
  • The reports were emailed to chapters on August 6, 2025
  • If you have not received the reports, or need to be added to the recipient list, please contact mchampion@camft.org
  • To verify whether your chapter member is a member of CAMFT, log in to www.camft.org / My Dashboard. On the left navigation bar, scroll all the way down to “Membership Directory”

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Celebrating ALL our Chapters: At the Chapter Leadership Conference Feb 7-8, 2025

  • Discuss with your colleagues on the Board
  • We will be recognizing and celebrating all our Chapters, rather than only the winners of specific categories
  • Chapter leaders will have the opportunity to share their successes, struggles, anything really! via answering a few questions, instead of submitting lengthy nomination packets
  • Time commitment = Minimal
  • Updated information will be posted on the CLC webpage here  
  • Submission deadline  = October 31, 2024
  • There will be no change to the Outstanding Chapter Leader Awards portion of the conference
