Chapter Highlight: Long Beach-South Bay Chapter’s Pre-Licensed Fair

  • On July 11, 2025, the Long Beach-South Bay CAMFT Chapter held an in-person job fair at the Torrance Memorial Hoffman Health Conference Center.
  • The President, Chris McKnight, had the vision of revitalizing job fairs for therapists in the Long Beach-South Bay area and bringing people together in person for another post-COVID event.
  • Chris shared that to make the event less of a financial burden on the hosts and participants, the Board offered a discounted rate to table hosts if they would be willing to consider allowing the LBSB Chapter to advertise and promote them as a Chapter sponsor.
  • The event ended up with 23 table hosts, of which 10 opted to become sponsors for the LBSB chapter, and 30 attendees.
  • Chris shared that due to the excitement of the event, and once the sponsors and hosts learned about the benefits of being a CAMFT and/or a Chapter member, the LBSB chapter, as well as CAMFT, gained quite a few new members.

CEPA/Education/Events

Q&A: Zoom attendance and CE eligibility

Q: Can introductions be included in the program time?

A: Sharing of upcoming CE programs and any current business about the Chapter would not count.  Introduction of the topic, the speaker’s background, the educational goals, and reviewing the learning objectives would count.

Q: What if there is technical trouble that prevents Chapters from starting on time?

A: CAMFT’s CEPA department recommends that you leave time at the end for Q&A.  The opportunity to ask questions and share comments about the program is seen as instructional time.

Q: What if an attendee has technical trouble? How many minutes (per credit hour) can a person miss and still get CE credit?

A: A person has to attend the full time to get full credit, i.e., 4 hours for 4 credits.  Again, it’s always a good idea to have the program run a bit over with Q&A at the end to help give those people a chance to make up their time.  If you are recording the program, you can also let them have the recording for free to make up their time.

Q: Are attendees required to have their video on while they are participating online?

A: CAMFT’s CEPA department does not have a hard-and-fast rule for Chapters, but highly recommends that they have that policy in place.  CAMFT does require it for our own CAMFT live Zoom meetings.

Reminder: Do you have a change in program administrator

  • Please notify the CEPA Department within 15 days of any changes to the program administrator, so there is no lapse in your Chapter's Provider status
  • Contact Mary Beth at mmuro@camft.org, or Tim at tmcmullen@camft.org
